The global indicator framework was developed by the Inter-Agency and Expert Group on SDG Indicators (IAEG-SDGs) in 2016 and agreed upon, including refinements on several indicators, at the 48th session of the United Nations Statistical Commission held in March 2017.

The global indicator framework was adopted by the General Assembly on 6 July 2017.

In conjunction with above activities the National Statistics Office of Mongolia conducted a re-assessment of SDG indicators availability, focusing on administrative data sources including line ministries and agencies.

On 20 June 2017, an official letter (registration number 07/679) including a questionnaire with an aim to assess availability of indicators was sent to line ministries, which subsequently was used for production of this assessment report.

It is concluded that totally out of readily available 134 indicators, 61 indicators can be produced from official statistics and 73 indicators from administrative statistics of ministries and other government agencies, respectively.
